Connecting generations with free community programs

Earlier this year, ISPT launched our free community skills program in partnership with Youngster.co to empower community members to feel confident using technology. In just 4 months, the program has successfully engaged over 36 youth, assisted over 163 members of the community and resolved 92% of technology challenges.

Connecting generations
The Youngster.co program is underpinned by ISPT’s commitment to ESG excellence in everything we do. We’ve successfully created a space where seniors are engaged and respected while young people are valued, learn essential life skills, and are part of a vibrant community.

Rosemary Condron-Calic, National Portfolio Manager for Retail Services says ISPT properties are most meaningful when they serve their community.

“We identified a major skills gap for seniors who are challenged by smart phone technology, while also feeling isolated from their local communities, so we partnered with Youngster.co on this intergenerational solution. Volunteers have loved gaining life skills, micro credentials and paid work and our seniors have enjoyed sharing their stories while learning new skills. It’s been a truly wonderful way to bring two generations together.”  >

The Youngster.co program is currently in place at Lakelands Shopping Centre, Southgate Shopping Centre and Wagga Wagga Marketplace. Following the success of the initial pilot, we’ll be expanding and rolling the program out to further ISPT retail centres in FY2023.

Tony Rothacker from Youngster.co said

“ISPT’s strong ESG focus was a natural fit for Youngster.co’s ambitions and our partnership has allowed us to reach new communities, showcase the value of local, tech-savvy Youngsters and bring out the best in each generation. We’re thrilled with the results.”
