ISPT has saved approximately 30 cubic metres of retail food court furniture and cooking equipment from landfill whilst transforming nearly 60% of the available floorspace on level 1 of Camberwell Place into Melbourne’s newest coworking venue.

Following in the footsteps of our Sustainable Furniture Scheme, and with the assistance of MPE Group, ISPT has donated a of furniture and cooking equipment to charities and community groups and recycled approximately 2,500 kg of scrap metal from Camberwell Place. This includes equipment donated through the Salvation Army to a volunteer group providing meals for those in need, and furniture gifted to a local church group and the Budda Bodhivana Monastery in Warburton.

Steven Peters, Acting General Manager, ESG says

“The reconfiguration of Camberwell Place is a great example of ISPT supporting a circular economy model. We started this formally in May 2022 with our Sustainable Furniture Scheme, a full triple bottom line approach: with environmental benefits through reselling would-be waste as quality second-hand furniture, and the resulting funds donated to a charity partner as part of our commitment to social impact. This current refit project is creating shared-value partnerships with our communities who will give our used furniture a new lease on life.”

Bringing co-working to Camberwell

Sam Curry, General Manager, Retail says the evolution of Camberwell Place is an example of ISPT’s ESG commitment in action, as well as our retail strategy.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Waterman to reinvigorate the centre and breathe new life into the heart of Camberwell. This transformation from retail into flexible workspace will highlight and maximise some of the centre’s greatest features, including the abundance of natural light and complementary surrounding retail. We look forward to enhancing our offering for local residents while supporting the growth of people and businesses in the local community.”

The de-fit and reconfiguration of Camberwell Place is part of our partnership with Waterman, a Melbourne provider of flexible workspace. Waterman’s latest co-working hub is due to open in mid-2023.
