H&M trading at Melbourne's GPO
H&M has opened their first Australian store at Melbourne’s GPO, owned by ISPT, on the Bourke St Mall. The flagship store spanning approximately 5,000 square meters will be one of H&M’s largest stores globally.
The interior of Melbourne’s GPO, once home to small retailers, has been transformed into a single store, whilst retaining the historical and heritage aspects of Melbourne’s original Victorian-era post office.
Over the launch weekend thousands of shoppers queued for hours to gain access to the Centre. The lines stretched from the main entrance, along Elizabeth Street and into Little Bourke Street.
Sam Curry, General Manager, Retail Services at ISPT said: “Melbourne’s GPO is an iconic landmark building in the heart of Melbourne’s retail precinct. Melbourne’s GPO is a destination for all Melbourne shoppers as they embrace the fashions delivered by H&M for the first time. ISPT worked with H&M through all stages of the project to reconfigure the interior and construct this flagship store.”
