ISPT recognised for ESG excellence by GRESB

ISPT is proud to have maintained its strong GRESB results having received the Global and Regional Sector Leader status in addition to 5 Star ratings in the latest 2023 benchmarks.

ISPT’s results included:

  • For the third year, the ISPT Core Fund has been awarded the #1 ranking against peers as a Global Sector Leader in the GRESB Real Estate Assessment – Development Benchmark, as well as global sector status for the fourth consecutive year
  • ISPT Core Fund achieved Regional Sector Leader status in 2 categories in the Standing Investments Benchmark, relating to Diversified Office and Retail performance in the Oceania region.
  • ISPT Core Fund, 50 Lonsdale and IRAPT funds achieved the highest rating of GRESB 5 Stars in the 2023 GRESB Real Estate Assessment, outperforming against both the peer comparison and global GRESB averages for each respectively

The results follow the release of ISPT’s latest FY2023 ESG Report which highlights a number of achievements in renewable energy, emissions reduction, waste diversion and social impact.

These include:

  • 84% of ISPT’s electricity needs across the portfolio are now generated from renewables through a combination of Power Purchasing Agreements and onsite solar at ISPT assets – which ISPT plans to increase
  • Reduction in ISPT’s emissions by 60% since 2020, in line with our carbon neutral commitment and efforts to drive down our overall emissions footprint
  • Increased the amount of organic waste diverted from landfill across the portfolio by 28% compared to FY2022, with plans underway to increase more waste diversion
  • Over $4.8m invested in social impact activities through community contributions, programs and partnerships and direct ISPT Community Committee donations

These results are in addition to ISPT’s long-standing achievement as Australia’s first property company to achieve a 100% Carbon Neutral portfolio since 2020, as the business pursues an ambitious pathway to Carbon Positive from 2025.

Chief Sustainability Officer, Steven Peters announced, “The global GRESB peer recognition and sector leader results are testament to ISPT’s ESG Strategy delivering market leading outperformance against industry ESG benchmarks. We are committed to delivering a pathway to Carbon Positive, as our team evolves our strategy towards 2030 and beyond.”

Chris Chapple, CEO, ISPT commented, “ISPT embeds ESG excellence into everything we do, and we are proud that our performance has been recognised by GRESB in the latest 2023 benchmarks. These strong results coincide with the release of our FY2023 ESG report which outlines our achievements in many areas of ESG including decarbonisation and electrification, our increased investment in social impact initiatives, and the continuation of our Reconciliation Action Plan. By executing our ESG Strategy with ambition, we are delivering better outcomes for our investors, partners and people.”

Sebastien Roussotte, CEO of GRESB, said “GRESB Sector Leaders embody the industry’s champions, leading the charge towards a net-zero future and propelling the sector forward. We wholeheartedly commend this year’s Sector Leaders for their dedication, leadership and commitment to ESG principles and sustainability.”
