WE'RE POWERING A
LOW CARBON FUTURE

Since 2016, we’ve embarked on a national, five-stage initiative to install Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels across the rooftops of our property portfolio.

The rollout was the first of its scale in Australia when launched and strives to set a new benchmark for sustainable leadership while providing clean, cost-effective, low-carbon energy to our tenant partners. We’re proud of our progress which continues to create better futures.

STAGE 1 – COMPLETED
November 2016 – September 2018

• $1.2M investment in 0.9MW of solar PV systems
• 3,000 solar PV panels covering 20,000 sqm of roof space installed on 12 commercial and retail property
• Powering 367,069 sqm of commercial and retail space
• Generated 1,361 MWh in year one – enough to power 450 homes and 12% higher than the production benchmark
• Over 1,000 tonnes of CO2 saved per year – equivalent to emissions from 480 tonnes of coal burned

STAGE 2 – COMPLETED
October 2018 – June 2020 

• $9.8M investment of 3.8MW of solar PV systems
• 13,000 solar PV panels installed, covering 75,000 sqm of roof space on 12 retail centres (includes 3 upgrades from Stage 1)
• Generated over 5,083MWh of clean energy in year one – enough to power over 630 homes
• Over 3,600 tonnes of CO2 saved per year – equivalent to emissions from 1,813 tonnes of coal burned

STAGE 3 – COMPLETED
January 2021 – July 2022

• $6.19M investment of 3.2MW of solar PV systems and electrical infrastructure upgrades
• Over 5,000 solar PV panels were installed covering up to 30,000 sqm of roof space on 23 commercial and retail properties.
• Generating over 4,300MWH per annum – enough to power 600 homes.
• Over 3,000 tonnes of CO2 saved per year – equivalent to emissions from 1,500 tonnes of coal burned.

STAGE 4 – UNDERWAY
Ongoing since August 2022

• Site assessments are underway to install behind-the-meter battery storage systems to integrate into our existing solar PV systems, with expected pilot projects and rollout in 2025.
• Super-fast EV 150kW DC charging machines are being installed across the ISPT retail portfolio and AC EV charging machines across our office portfolio.
• Site assessments are underway to install new solar shade sails to replace our conventional car park shade sails, which will further reduce our carbon footprint and support EV charging machines.
• Building approval received to install a new 60kW solar façade system at 100 St George Terrace, which will be one of the largest solar façade project in Western Australia (expected completion in mid-2025).

STAGE 5 – UNDERWAY
Commenced December 2023

• Investigations into Stage 5 are underway with 19 completed projects and another 10 projects planned, providing up to 5MW of solar PV systems.
• Expected to over 6,700MWh per annum – enough to power 900 homes.
• Estimated 4,600 tonnes of CO2 saved per year – equivalent to emissions from 2,300 tonnes of coal burned.

So far, we have successfully saved over $1.5 million in electricity cost savings for our tenant partners and completed over 70 renewable energy projects, including the installation of solar PV systems on more than 50 office and retail properties within our portfolio.
