Injalak Art Exhibition on display across ISPT's national office portfolio

Striking Gunbalanya screen printings from West Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory are now on display at Casselden, 2 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne.

The exhibition is part of our touring display from Injalak Art in collaboration with Future Art, and touring across ISPT's national office portfolio.

ISPT’s office spaces are set to transform over the next 12 months, as the Injalak Art Exhibition brings Gunbalanya’s striking screen printings from West Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory to our national office portfolio.

In collaboration with Future Art, the exhibition is now on display at Casselden, 2 Lonsdale St, Melbourne (part of Spring Place), following its debut at George Place and 477 Pitt Street in Sydney.

A cornerstone of the Gunbalanya economy for 35 years, the screen prints are inspired by the culture, Country, community and language of the Injalak artists, who also create sculptures, paintings and weavings.

Each artwork has its own story and significance, which visitors can discover by looking closer at the tag on each artwork.

The exhibition is curated by Karen Coote, who meticulously inspects each individual ISPT site, trials the artwork in each space, and makes any required adjustments to ensure the Injalak Art will stand proudly in the space.

“It’s an incredibly moving exhibition – the people of Gunbalanya have now been using screen printing to share their culture, their story and their heritage for 35 years, and to celebrate that milestone the older designers have brought some new works to exhibit.”

“Each printing tells a story, there’s so much to discover within each work.”

“We’re also delighted to be exhibiting a printing done by Gunbalanya children – this exhibition therefore represents the past, the present, and the future of this artistic culture,” said Karen.

Led by Group Executive, Head of Property Amanda Steele, ISPT’s property leadership team recently went on a tour to immerse themselves on Country, with the exhibition capturing the deep knowledge and connection the artists and their artworks convey how ISPT aims to deliver on impactful experiences for our tenant partners.

Upcoming locations for the Injalak Art Tour include Pathway Place in Canberra in September, followed by Central Plaza in Brisbane and 100 St George’s Terrace in Perth.
