ISPT launches large-scale Sustainable Furniture Scheme

We’ve kicked off a new initiative that will save over 15,000 office furniture items and 42,000 sqm of ceiling tiles from a one-way trip to landfill. ISPT are redistributing second hand furniture from 500 Bourke Street, Melbourne to those who need it most, while helping build a home for displaced youth.
An industry-leading solution
The Sustainable Furniture Scheme is one of Australia’s largest and most ambitious rehoming projects. We’re sending a whole building’s worth of furniture to charities and sustainable furniture stores and donating $200,000 from their sale to the Property Industry Foundation. These funds will be used to build of a home for homeless youth

We’ve been transforming organic waste in our commercial properties since 2019 and we’re excited to transition this thinking and come up with a large-scale furniture solution.”
This is one of the largest physical releases of furniture items in Australia, and we’ve made a commitment to rehome 85% of it. We aim to set new standard for responsible reuse in the commercial property industry while supporting the Property Industry Foundation in their important and meaningful work. It’s our way of standing true to our ESG commitments and supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
