Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall 40th anniversary
For four decades, the Queen Street Mall has been the beating commercial heart of Brisbane. And at its epicentre, are some of ISPT’s retail centres.
We brought the big names from around the world and Australia to Brisbane including H&M, Uniqlo, Zara, Mecca and COS, helping to generate over one million pedestrian movements a week. With around 500 retail stores, the Queen Street Mall is one of Australia’s premier shopping precincts.
As the Mall’s 40th anniversary ticks over, we also acknowledge the vision of the Brisbane City Council. A 1982 decision to close the two blocks between Edward and George streets to traffic helped transform the precinct not only into today’s retail powerhouse, but also to become the place where Brisbane locals meet.
Sam Curry, General Manager, Retail Services said:
“Since ISPT made our first acquisition in the Queen Street Mall in 2003, we’ve continued to grow our retail presence. Our over 90,000 sqm of lettable space includes a Goodstart Early Learning Centre above H&M and Uniqlo, supporting the city’s workers.
ISPT is proud to have contributed to the growth and success of the Queen Street Mall, and we look forward to playing an active role in Brisbane’s bright future.”
Wintergarden and the Myer Centre Brisbane took part in the celebrations that included fashion runway shows, styling opportunities, live performances and giveaways.
